Where the Water Found Me

I came here carrying more than a camera.
I brought unanswered questions,
Long days, quiet battles,
And dreams that refused to let go.
The water met me without judgment,
Reflecting not just the sky,
But the person I was becoming—
Stronger than I realized.
The bridge stretched across the lake,
Reminding me that every journey
Requires faith before the destination
Can ever be seen.
The ancient trees stood weathered,
Scarred by countless seasons,
Yet still reaching toward the light.
I saw pieces of myself in them—
Proof that surviving can become thriving.
The mountain in the distance
Never rushed to impress anyone.
It simply stood, steady and certain.
In its quiet confidence,
I found a lesson I needed to hear:
You don’t have to be loud
To leave a lasting mark.
As I stood there, breathing in the Oklahoma air,
I realized peace isn’t the absence of struggle.
It’s the moment you stop fighting who you’ve been
And begin embracing who you’re becoming.
This place didn’t change me.
It reminded me of the strength
That had been within me all along.
So I left with more than photographs.
I carried home a quieter heart,
A clearer mind,
And a renewed belief
That every difficult road I’ve traveled
Has been leading me here—
To a place where the water remembers,
The mountains stand patiently,
And I finally remembered myself.
